Project Description

The Palombo Group had the honor of overseeing construction and cost estimating for Suny Ulster’s Ulster Works program, located at the Kingston Extension Center. The Extension Center is the former Sophie Finn Elementary School building and is included in the State and National Register of Historic Places. The building’s significance comes from the fact that it was designed by Perkins & Will, whose firm helped pioneer the design ideals reflected there. The SUNY Ulster project was created so as not to interfere with the original building’s design.

The SUNY Ulster Kingston Business Resource Center houses many exciting career training programs for high school students, including a small police academy. Additionally, several job fairs and many workshops are provided for high school students as well as adults. Being in the heart of Kingston, and attached to the High School via a walkway, it is more easily accessible for students with travel issues than the more remote main campus in Stone Ridge.

There are many green initiatives that are taking place there, and The Palombo Group is proud to be included in creating such a wonderful asset for Ulster County and the community at large.

This project began in March 2014 and was completed on time and under budget in August 2015.
