Project Description

When the Poughkeepsie City School District needed construction work throughout the district, they turned to the Palombo Group to manage their construction project. The budget was $27 million and included three additions: a 20,200 square foot addition for Krieger Elementary School, a 15,300 square foot addition for Morse Elementary School, and a 26,000 square foot addition for Poughkeepsie High School.

District wide reconstruction was needed in conjunction with the additions and included: interior renovations, a kitchen upgrade, refinishing of the gym and cafeteria floors, replacement of the exterior doors, new toilet room partitions, cafeteria tables, replacement of the existing plumbing piping, upgrading of the plumbing fixtures, boiler upgrades, and updating of the heat control networks (including traps, valves, and temperature controls). The classrooms were also provided with new outlets and computer connections to allow for the use of current technology by the students. Landscaping was done for the front of the buildings and new roofs were installed as well.

The project was completed on time and under budget in the summer of 2005 to be ready for the upcoming school year.
