Project Description
Middle Hope Elementary School in the Marlboro Central School District needed a new addition and many updates to both the buildings and the surrounding property. The Palombo Group was responsible for construction management and oversaw the building of a 5,000 square foot addition as well as the removal of the modular classrooms that it replaced. The new addition houses five new classrooms as well as much needed storage areas. Renovations to the existing structure were made to provide space for full day Kindergarten and included the classrooms, library/media center, kitchen, gymnasium, bathrooms, offices and storage.
Replacements for the structure were extensive and included: new windows and doors, replaced or upgraded building systems (heating, ventilation, AC, plumbing, and electrical) and technology upgrades (computer equipment, wiring, phone system, and security). General building improvements included lighting, painting and window screens. ADA compliance issues were resolved and asbestos abasement was performed. The school also received a full roof replacement.
In addition to the changes made to the structure, the grounds were updated with an improved bus loop, new parking spaces, relocation of the play areas, new sidewalks and drainage improvements. The work was completed in the winter of 2005.
