Project Description
The Palombo Group was responsible for construction management in the building of a new building for the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office. The building, which is used for very specific activities relating to the death of individuals, required certain considerations to be made. In order to make sure all needs would be met, the Palombo Group consulted with Fitzgerald And Rhynders Funeral Home. As a result of their experience and understanding, the Palombo Group was able to construct a building that would meet the specific needs of the DC Medical Examiner’s Office. Some of the accommodations included a separate viewing alcove for families that would allow them privacy while discussing business related to the deceased, and a secure transition/receiving room with an adjacent refrigerated storage area. Other considerations included items such as transparent pipes in the autopsy room and a vented tissue storage space. Geothermal wells for heating and cooling were considered but were ultimately decided against.
The project was completed on time and under budget in August 2013.
